Christmas lights

Christmas lights can add a bit of sparkle during the festive season lighting up our streets, homes and gardens. Displays I have seen have ranged from the sophisticated white lights to bright displays to in your face OTT disaster which is not only an eyesore but will also lead to a heafty electricity bill. I searched the internet for some more examples of each. (caution some pictures may cause an epelepic fit)

Business cards

The business card is quite often the first piece of design that a potential client sees from your company. It is therefore vital that it gives a good impression, it should show your style and ability. The business card is a very powerful tool to attract clients and to build up your contacts within the industry. Nobody is going to want to do business with a company or hire somebody with a boring or poorly designed business card.
I want to design a card so I have had a look at some that I have found visually pleasing or interesting.

Christmas card designs

This is the time of year that we get tens and even hundreds of Christmas cards if we are very popular through our letter box's, provided that the postman can actually get to our doors with the amount of snow around. For those who are yet to recieve any Christmas cards they are probably "stuck in the post"
Some of the cards are plain with a simple Christmas themed image but some were more captivating and so I have decided to look up some of the slightly more interesting card designs.

Unusual architecture

Here are some of the most unusal buildings I could find. Although they are interesting to look at I dont know whether I would want to actually live in any of them.

Gourmet designs

Feeling rather peckish I decided to look at design using food. Food and packaging contains so many unusual but recognisable shapes that could be used such as a banana or an egg. These items can be used to represent other things that have a connection to the food item such as a monkey is known to eat bananas or the fact that hens lay eggs, they can therefore be used as a simple means of executing a broader topic.
With food such as fruit and vegetable also comes a very broad spectrum of possible colours to include in your design. Here are some of my favourite examples I found of where food has been adapted for design.

Snow art

Due to a bad throat I have been forced to stay inside instead of being out enjoying leeds forst day of proper snow but since I was in the mood I decided to look at some art sculptures and was pretty impressed with what I found. How on earth do they do it!! I thought my snowmen were quite good but this is in a league of its own.
